Other Timbers Available
Trademarked ThermoWood®, Lunawood® and Plato®wood.
These are thermal modified woods using high-quality whitewood or redwood material mainly found in northern Finland and the Netherlands. Thermo-processing permanently affects the wood’s properties providing excellent durability, dimension stability and insulating qualities.
Similar to some tropical hardwood species: based on the treatment temperature, which is constantly monitored during production. When exposed to UV light, it will lose colour and turn silver grey unless protected by a pigmented surface protection.
Main uses:
External cladding, decking, fence and window trims, interior lining, sauna benches and lining material.
Working 50% more stable than untreated softwood; these timbers suffer less Qualities shrinkage, swelling, and distortion in response to atmospheric changes. They are easy to work with and lightweight.
Durability:
Improved durability against decay. Density Varies: approx 350 - 480Kg/m3.
European Oak.
Found throughout Europe including the British Isles, the colour is Yellow brown.
Uses:
Heavy structural use, cladding, exterior joinery, interior joinery, furniture and flooring.
The working and machining properties of oak vary with the mild to tough material. In general, it finishes well and can be stained, polished, waxed, and glued satisfactorily. It takes nails and screws well, except near edges, when the wood should be pre-bored.
